Visa and Work Permits

All applicants must have a valid visa, and in some cases a work permit, that will allow them to live and work in Japan for a period of no less than six months from the time of contract signing.
Please be aware that we do not consider applicants on a temporary visitor, or tourist, visa.

All applicants need:

  • Valid passport (a Japanese driver's license is acceptable for Japanese applicants)
  • Bank account information (a bank book is required for all accounts unless it is held with Citibank or Shinsei)

Most applicants need:

  • Valid visa (tourist visa is not accepted)
  • Alien registration card (gaikokujin tourokushou)
  • Copy of a university diploma and transcripts

Some applicants need:

  • Work permit
  • Valid student ID card and certificate of school enrollment
  • A Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) ID card
