Applying
The people who decided to come to Japan do so for different reasons and have different needs. Because of this we have adapted an individualized recruitment process. We work with applicants to provide them with the information and support to help them sculpt their experience. At Gaba, we believe that only you know what you want, but if you let us know we can help you get there.
The following description is of the application process for those residing outside Japan. There are five steps, but the time involved will depend on the specific circumstances of the applicant.

Working Holiday:
For Canadians/ Australians/ New Zealanders/ Britons/Irish /Koreans/ French/ Danes/ and Germans between the ages of 18 and 30 and currently residing in their home countries. Applicant can apply for the Visa themselves in their home country and should expect to receive it in as little as 5 weeks. Conditions may vary, please visit the MOFA site for details.
Specialist in Humanities
This is a company sponsored visa for people who want to stay a year or more and are planning on making Gaba their primary source of income. To qualify, the applicant must have a university degree or 3 years of verifiable full-time ESL teaching experience. Applicants should apply 3 to 5 months prior to their planned arrival date in Japan, but should be flexible to accommodate the visa process.
Other visa types
Overseas applicants in possession of other types of work permissible visas are also eligible. Please specify clearly which type of visa and dates of validity when submitting documentation.
Note:
Applicants currently outside Japan but with confirmed arrival plans within the next 30 days are asked to postpone their application until after arrival. Once settled, the applicants are encouraged to revisit the website and apply via the domestic channel.
