Eligibility
All applicants must be fluent in English. A TESOL / TEFL degree or prior teaching experience
is especially welcomed. For applicants who would like to enhance their teaching skills, Gaba
offers extensive certification programs to help you further develop as an instructor.
Applicants are responsible for covering the cost of their airfare to Japan, as well as travel insurance and living expenses. Potential instructors must bear in mind that payment is received once a month and for those lessons taught the month prior. As such, new instructors must ensure that they have enough money to cover approximately 2 months of living expenses. This is the approximate time between starting and the first pay check. The Japanese government recommends that people moving to Japan bring at least 350,000 yen to cover living expenses for the first 2 months. It's best to come prepared so you can start enjoying your time in Japan from the moment that you arrive!
Teaching at Gaba will provide you with valuable knowledge of client care and professionalism in a Japanese context. The ability to speak and teach English alone is not sufficient to succeed at Gaba. Our company is founded on our ability to be sensitive to the needs and feelings of our clients. Instructors must have the ability to customize their lessons to suit each client, build trust, and encourage their clients to achieve their most audacious goals in life.
Diversity

Gaba understands that English has become a bridge between cultures. It has become a necessity for many people in the international community, especially in global business, to speak English. In recognition of this, Gaba's hiring policy evaluates potential Instructors on their ability, regardless of their country of origin. This has helped foster a very diverse environment, with Instructors from over 60 countries represented. This commitment to multiculturalism is one that fully extends itself to management. Individuals from many regions of the world are represented among our company leaders. Our multicultural learning environment gives Clients, as well as Instructors, the opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds and enrich their learning and teaching experience.
